Nusantara

Indonesian archipelago stretches from West to East. In the west is the town of Sabang (Nangroe Aceh Darussalam), and at the east end is the town of Merauke (Papua province).
Indonesia has the largest islands in the world such as the islands of Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. But the islands are smaller even more, such as the island of Nias, Bangka, Belitong, Madura, Bali, Lombok, Flores, Ambon, Banda, Halmahera and still thousands more.
Thousands and thousands of islands in Indonesia, are united by the sea and the strait. Even Indonesia's vast territorial waters is greater than the area of ​​land. Therefore Indonesia is called a maritime country. And throughout the Indonesian archipelago is called Nusantara.
The word Nusantara is taken from the book Pararaton written hundreds of years ago in the ancient Javanese kingdom of Majapahit around the 14th century AD. The term Nusantara is then defined as the homeland (islands) between two continents and two oceans.
As a side note, is the great kingdom of Majapahit in eastern Java who at that time was trying to unite the whole archipelago under his control. Royal relics can still be visited, it is located in Trowulan, Mojokerto, East Java.
Indonesia has 17,504 islands where each island or region inhabited by the population. Therefore Indonesia is the country's ethnic and language has the most area in the world.
There are thousands of tribes who inhabited the country of Indonesia. Each has different customs vary. They also have a different way of celebrating the excitement. Dancing, singing and traditional musical instruments in Indonesia are innumerable.
In addition to culture and the arts, Indonesia is also rich in biodiversity such as plants and animals. Animals and plants in Indonesia has its own uniqueness. In Sumatra there are Sumatran elephant, Sumatran tiger and orangutan. On the island of Borneo, we will find the apes long-nosed proboscis monkey, which only exists in Indonesia. In Java there are one-horned rhino, while on the island of Sulawesi are Anoa. In Nusa Tenggara  giant lizards are very famous as ancient dragons, its called Komodo and  in Papua there are magnificent birds named birds of paradise.
Diverse flora  There are about 4000 species of trees, 1500 kinds of ferns and about 5000 species of orchids. Indonesia earned the nickname as the lungs of the world. Indonesia's forests second largest after Brazil's.
In the forests there are also unique plants, which only exists in Indonesia. Like in Sumatra there are the world's largest flower named Rafflesia Arnoldi. And various rare orchids in the jungles of Borneo.
Maybe someday you can visit and see how beauty they are.
