Jakarta



Jakarta is the capital of the Republic of Indonesia. Jakarta has a population estimated at about 10 million inhabitants. Populous than the other big cities in Indonesia, even among the most populous in the world. Most city dwellers are migrants from various regions in Indonesia. And the number of migrants is being added every year. Jakarta is considered as a beacon of hope to live better in the future.
In addition to immigrants who eventually settled and have a Jakarta ID card, there is also a temporary migrants to Jakarta for work. Generally they come from Jakarta's satellite cities such as Bogor, Depok, Tangerang or Bekasi. Therefore Jakarta at noon denser than the night.

Historically, prior to the arrival of the Dutch, Jakarta is an important trading center. Previously, about 500 years ago, Jakarta is a small port town at the mouth of the Ciliwung river. Several centuries later became a bustling trading town.

During the Indonesian independence movement, the city has a lot of recording historical events of great importance. During the Japanese occupation during 1942-1945  Batavia name was changed to Jakarta. After the proclamation of independence, Jakarta officially became the capital of the Republic of Indonesia. Jakarta has now become an international city - such as the cities of the same class in the other hemisphere - is very advanced, very crowded and very busy.

Indigenous peoples are ethnic Betawi Jakarta (probably derived from the word Batavia). Betawi arts are many performances with musical accompaniment such as Lenong, Gambang Kromong, Tanjidor and Ondel-ondel. Historical tourist places in Jakarta are the Gajah Museum, Fatahillah Museum , Taman Mini Indonesia Indah and Monas. And there are many other interesting places to visit there.
